The Life of Nor Hadjn in words and images20 Nov 2009Yerevan - The Manana Youth Center is a multimedia training center that works to develop the intellectual and creative talents of youth in Armenia. Its headquarters are in Yerevan. Manana has four youth studios: journalism and creative writing, photoÂjournalism, filmmaking, and animation. The "Life in Nor Hadjn" was a workshop conducted by Manana with support from the Bay Area Friends of Armenia (BAFA). It paired students from Manana with students living in Nor Hadjn, a town 25 km outside of Yerevan. Together they were able to tell the story of life in Nor Hadjn from their own perspectives using photography and journalism. With the support of BAFA, 10 students from Nor Hadjn are now attending Manana four days a week. This spring Manana, again in conjunction with BAFA, will begin a similar project in the city of Ashtarak. BAFA has established soup kitchens in both Nor Hajn and Ashtarak that provide meals, often to the elderly and orphans of war, in these cities. The Manana Youth Center has two principal sponsors, the Paros Foundation and the Tufenkian Foundation. Manana students implement many projects through the support of other organizations.
